"Decades are a dark-pop band from Christchurch, New Zealand. Emma, Liam, Dan and Curtis have been performing together as a band for the last 7 years, formerly under the name of Ashei as a pop-rock outfit born and bred in Christchurch, New Zealand.
After funding and releasing 5 singles independently over 5 years, and a 5-track EP ('Music is Boring'), Decades came to a crossroads where they wanted to change their sound and direction dramatically which inspired the name change to Decades to mark this new step in their music careers.
Last year, Emma was lucky to meet NZ rock music producer heavyweight, and inspiring musician in his own right as the drummer of the iconic kiwi rock band Shihad, Tom Larkin.
Meeting in a small bar in St Kilda, Melbourne, whilst she followed Scottish rock outfit Biffy Clyro around Australia, (then) Ashei's direction was given a large boost by Tom's enthusiam and offer to be a part of Decades' next step as a band.
Long story short, around 6 months of writing (over 150 songs), two separate 1-week long stints of pre-production sessions in Christchurch with Tom, and countless phone calls, skype meetings and emails later, Decades landed themselves in Tom's beautiful studios, The Studios in the City, in the cultural hub of Brunswick, Melbourne to work on their debut album for 5 weeks of blood, sweat and tears.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the fresh and evocative sounds coming from Decades in the coming months."
