Ipswich crowned Roundup grand champions for 2012
Out of 34 of Christchurch's best bands only one could be crowned grand champions of RDU Roundup 2012.
Saturday nights final at Dux Live saw the ferocity of competition between the 5 bands deemed worthy of a final position.
Villain, Will Sergeant Survive?, The Response, Golden Orange and Ipswich (in that order) all relatively new bands on the scene and took to the stage and did what they do best.
After much deliberation from the 5 judges standing outside in the Dux Live carpark they came to the desicion that everyone was waiting for and crowned Ipswich the grand champions of RoundUp 2012.
Ipswich join the ranks of past RoundUp Knighthoods including: Von Klap, The Tiger Tones, Bang! Bang! Eche!, Slipstream, The Undercurrents, Shapeshifter, The O’Lovelies, The Deceivers, The Insurgents, Heavy Jones Trio, P Bass Expressway, Sleepy Age and The Guest.
As well as the glory of being Roundup champions, the band take away a tasty prize pack with studio recording time and mastering through Reality Chant and Cacophony Studios, mentoring and promotion from CHART, press shots from Dean Mackenzie Photography, $2000 worth of publicity thanks to The Press, management, membership and mentoring from the Music Managers Forum (MMF), $1500 credit from NZ Rockshops and and exclusive vinyl recording from In Real Life vinyl records.
