M*A*S*S*I*V*E Spring Equinox 2012 this Saturday!

Spring Equinox 2012 poster

This year the main stage features a diverse lineup of up-for-it Kiwi and Aussie artists all joining forces to play back2back. These dance floor destroyers are guaranteed to explode your mind and set fire to the floor, which this year is appropriately named the “Super Duper Ultra Mega Phat Zone”. Start practising your warm-up routines now, these local legends will be giving you an epic workout!

Challenging them for aural supremacy are the unsung hereos of the Underground Back Alley Zone. (Or the UBA Zone, as we like to call it). These DJs and Producers represent the freshest talent in town, and have fought their way through a gruelling 4 week competition for a chance to be slamming it down for our listening pleasure. After being voted on by their peers and a panel of expert judges, they have all won their hard-earned place in the line-up for Spring Equinox 2012! Expect the unexpected, as these mystery mixers step out into the spotlight to smash their way to stardom!

K+Lab
Spring Equinox will see the return of K+Lab. A locally and internationally renowned Glitch producer from Wellington with national and international releases. After tearing the floor apart at last year’s event K+Lab is back with a new bunch of productions to unleash on the 20k White Audio Line Array. Having done remixes for Opiuo, Sedge Warbler and Shapeshifter and ripping up C4 with the recently released music Video for “Need to know” Featuring Sacha Vee, this is an act not to be missed. With his bass infused style of Intergalactic Space Funk, get ready for some bad ass’d booty shakin!

Mr Squatch
Followed up by the Christchurch legend Mr Squatch. Mr Squatch has been a regular feature in the massive lineup over the last 5 years, however, having jumped the ditch to Melbourne in 2011, the chances of witnessing this mysterious creature are a little more slim. Best known for his warm, squishy, loved up psychedelic funk-bubble beatz - Mr Squatch, co-founder of Delicious Music will be performing a special night time set this Spring Equinox. Expect a carefully woven basket of breaks, bass, beats and lush, psychedelic, hypnotic soundscapes. There will be stomping, wobbling and no doubt a variety of other strange movements yet to be defined.

Markj
This year M*A*S*S*I*V*E is bringing back with a warm welcome the international tech-lord “Markj” (currently based back in Melbourne, Australia after a recent tour of NYC). His current sound has been dubbed as ‘Tech Funk’ which includes elements of Tech House, Deep House, Techno, Minimal, Prog and Electro.

Pieter Borgh
If you haven't experienced his DJ set then this is your chance. Being a mature and talented DJ, PIETER BORGH enjoys testing his new creations in the environment its intended... on the dance floor, outdoors! Having played around New Zealand, especially for the South Island Outdoor Massive, over the last few years and with upcoming and recent releases on MIKEBELLA (Denmark), IBOGA (Denmark), SOUNDFOOD, DOOF WABBIT (Aus/Nz), OMNIMOTION (Nz) and HUMDRUM (Nz) ... a professional platform has been established that can only grow. Quality sound production, a glowing stage presence and music that means something is what this story is about. This is techno with a heavy, hypnotic rule and a power unmatched. Be prepared to Spring into step!
