Mel Parsons & the Rhythm Kings Spring tour 2012 (Win tickets!)
The arrival of spring sees rising indie/folk star Mel Parsons taking a break from her hectic Wool Shed touring schedule to play a series of intimate shows with her long-time backing band ‘The Rhythm Kings’. Parsons & the band will be performing in Nelson, Westport, Hokitika, CHCH & Dunedin, along with shows in Wellington & Auckland later in November.
2012 has been a busy year for Parsons, who is performing over 40 shows throughout rural NZ with homegrown comedy/theatre show ‘The Bitches’ Box”.
Releasing her second album ‘Red Grey Blue’ last year to critical acclaim, Parsons is a two-time Tui Award finalist for Folk Album of the Year (2009, 2012). Joined by Aaron Stewart on double bass, drummer & percussionist Nick George, and guitarist & backing vocalist Andrew Moore, Parsons will be performing a mix songs from both of her albums, along with some new numbers ready for road-testing. Parsons is in her element on stage, and presents an intimate live show not to be missed.
