The Warratahs celebrate 25 years with new best of, new EP and NZ Tour

The year 2012 marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic New Zealand outfit we know as The Warratahs.

In honour of this momentous occasion, The Warratahs are releasing a newly remastered 19-track album of their best, plus a 5 track E.P. of new songs together entitled The Warratahs 25 Year Collection. This E.P. includes their new single ‘Kupe’s Tears’ and accompanying the single is a new rustic, southern-style, black & white video directed by Wellington filmmaker, Brian Culy:

‘Kupe’s Tears’ plus ‘Mindreaders Blues’ were produced by Wellington musician Craig Terris of Cassette fame. ‘Good Combinations” and a remake of ‘Hands of My Heart’ (a duet with Caroline Easther) were produced by David Long (Fur Patrol, Dave Dobbyn). There is even a delightful live performance from Lyttelton’s The Harbour Light, of a new track entitled ‘Love Song’.

The landscape of the Warratahs’ sound remains centered on Barry Saunders' voice and songs, and Nik Brown's ability to set the music alight with his violin.
“It’s the music that has always kept the band alive” states front man Barry Saunders. “We are always looking forward and creating new material or reworking old material. If we weren’t doing that, there would be no band.”

To celebrate the album’s release and the band’s enduring legacy, The Warratahs are hitting the road again, embarking on a six-date tour of the country throughout the month of May.

The Warratahs 25 Year Collection and new 5 track E.P. are due for release April 20th.
