Webby and Stuart to play Chch Folk Music Club this Sunday
Helen Webby & Davy Stuart will be performing at the Christchurch Folk Music Club on Sunday 29th July at 7.30pm.
String wizardry extraordinaire!
Helen Webby, the top Celtic harpist in NZ (who also happens to be Principal harp with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra) and Davy Stuart, one of NZ's best Celtic accompanists on guitar and bouzouki, make a glorious instrumental combination, equally at home in a woolshed or a concert hall.
Their repertoire ranges from the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland to newly composed material from NZ and elsewhere. In concert you can expect a varied selection of music – reels, polkas, airs, waltzes and a few songs with a definite Scottish accent.
With the easy rapport that comes from 10 years playing together, they have enthralled audiences all round NZ and Australia and toured nationwide for Chamber Music NZ in 2008.
2011 brought a return visit to the Australian National Folk Festival in Canberra as a featured overseas act, where they also tutored harp and bouzouki at the National Folk School. August will see them embark on another nationwide tour, from Gore to Kaitaia, for Arts on Tour NZ.
Tickets: $10 members $15 non-members. Door sales only. Doors open 7.00 pm.
The Christchurch Folk Music Club is meeting at the Irish Society Hall at 25 Domain Terrace, Spreydon. This concert begins 7.30 pm. The bar and doors will be open from 7 pm.
