Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra tour 2012
This once in a lifetime event* pairs homegrown music-comedy juggernaut The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra with "the best ukulele soloist in the world" James Hill in an unforgettable summer double bill of ukulele magic that will delight audiences of all ages.
"New Zealand is heart-land for me," says Hill. "Just thinking of this tour makes my head spin. Anything could happen!"
The "utterly world class" Hill is "one of the world's top composers [for the ukulele] and probably the best player on the planet". No looping pedals were harmed in his jaw-dropping reimagining of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean".
The superb musicians of The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra mix heavenly harmonies and stunning solos with madcap antics and mini instruments, creating "entertainment of the highest order" and bringing sell-out, sing-along audiences to their feet.
Spontaneity and improvisation are central to the magic, meaning no two shows will be the same in what promises to be an incredible tour of ukulele skills and thrills from New Zealand's "national treasures" (TVNZ) and Canada's "ukulele sex symbol" (Ukulelehunt.com).
Tickets are on sale now (except Queenstown & Hamilton - on sale 4th October). Book early to secure the best seats. Group discounts are available.
