Zen Mantra picked up by Muzai Records
Christchurch musician Sam Perry’s newest musical outlet, ZEN MANTRA, have officially joined the MUZAI Roster as of August 2012. It comes at a price though – we’re sad to announce the dissolution of Psych Tigers at the same time. Sad emoticon.
Having released a number singles independently, Perry’s psych-chillwave (please, make up your own mind what genre it fits.) project Zen Mantra will release their debut album digitally October 2012 through MUZAI Records in New Zealand, with a UK release having already been negotiated also and a number of international label also interested in working with Perry. “Soothsayer” will commence the working relationship between Zen Mantra and MUZAI Records from August.
It’s not strictly a new working relationship though – you maybe familiar that Perry was originally part of the label with another band, Psych Tigers. Having had to choose between which project to concentrate on the most, it’s with deep regret that Psych Tigers has taken a permanent back seat. There is some bright news, however – an EP of material that was to be form an album will be released through new MUZAI imprint, S.Base, later in the year as a download-only release.
